Romer Young Gallery is pleased to present its first solo exhibition with Montreal artist Jean-François Lauda. There will be an opening reception for the artist on Thursday September 3, 6-9pm and an Artist Talk on Saturday October 17, 1-3pm.

Through an intuitive approach, Lauda's practice grapples with the exploration and disintegration of painting. He is "on the one hand a resolute abstractionist whose work often yields fugitive echoes of earlier abstractionists and, on the other, a wily scavenger who often works from a latter-day disconnect with existing traditions through the use of found templates and the incorporation of a radiant 'grunge' factor distinctly his own." (James D. Campbell)

Jean-François Lauda was part of the 30th Contemporary Art Symposium 2012, in Baie-Saint-Paul, curated by Serge Murphy. He was included in the Painting Project presented by Galerie UQAM and presented a solo show, Pimps and Fishmongers, at VSVSVS in Toronto. His work has been exhibited at Battat Contemporary, Galerie de l'UQAM, Galerie Simon Blais, Joyce Yahouda Gallery, Montreal; Erin Stump Projects, Toronto. Lauda is represented by Battat Contemporary in Montreal.
